missing the cbc

Well surprise, surprise.

I thought that the recent labour dispute at the CBC had all but wiped out their ability to provide music, news, etc. The morning coverage has been centralized from somewhere in Toronto and has replaced the Early Edition. While I usually sleep through most of it anyhow, I guess I don't miss it that much, but those subconscious queues are always helpful: oh crap, there's the national news, is it 7:00 AM already?

So no Rick on the Early Ed when I'm waking up, no Tom Allen on Music & Company on my way into work... no World at Six on my way home... No Ideas at 9:00 PM, no Eleanor Wachtel with the Arts Today at 10:00 PM, no Between the Covers at 11:00 PM... Do I really listen to that much radio? Wow.

But what's this? CBC Radio 3's August 19th Podcast just showed up! Grant Lawrence "holding down the fort" as he says in the opening bit. Somehow, I was expecting that to be on ice too. But it's not.

So that's a nice surprise.

It appears as though the CBC Store website is still working too. Although not sure how quickly those tshirt orders will be fulfilled.
