parting ways with good bikes

I'm selling 2 of my bikes. And it's taken me about as long as it took for me to decide to part ways with my Land-Rover. Selling inanimate objects is apparently difficult for me.

Cycling BC Classified Ad for my Trek 5200/5500

I've got a great Kona cross bike which has taken the lead role as winter bike. The Marinoni did well - 10 years service for any bike is amazing. And my team-edition Cannondale Six/13 is my #1 ride on the road these days, so the Trek has been neglected in the last 11 months. I had some amazing races on my Trek, took it to Mallorca, loved riding it. But it's simply hanging on the wall getting no use these days -- and that's not just because it's winter time.

So they're both for sale. Hopefully they'll find a happy home.

  • Hey Gordon. Have you found a home for your bikes yet? (Just curious).

  • I have a 1985 custom built Marinoni and now I am looking at a Cannondale Six 13 Pro 2. I can't believe how light and stiff bikes have gotten over the years. I hope you had many fond memories on your Marinoni. What size Six 13 did you buy given your 58 cm Marinoni?

  • I went with a 56cm Cannondale Six/13, which had almost identical measurements to the 58cm Trek 5200.

And while stiff, I found the aluminum carbon blend to be more forgiving than expected. It rides closer to my full carbon Trek than I had thought.

  • I just ordered a 60 cm Six 13 Pro 2. It is slightly bigger than my Marinoni but it will be a hell of a lot lighter. The 58 cm Cannondale was just too small for my long legs and arms.
