lance wants the hour record

Lots of press and writing on this so far, but anything with pictures somehow makes it that much more real, especially when it's pictures of Lance Armstrong in a wind tunnel with a fixed gear Trek track bike, based on the Madone frame. That is one mean looking track bike. Nice.

So, as Vice President of Canada's only indoor velodrome, I hereby officially invite Lance to train at the Burnaby Velodrome, should he want an "out of the way" place to train and escape media attention. Vancouver is easy on celebs and besides, he was here before: in 1991 winning the Gastown Grand Prix ("a fresh-faced 19 year old from Austin, TX"), as well as when he was here in Fall 2001 filming his Nike "Enjoy the Weather" ad, just across the water from the Burnaby Velodrome in Belcarra.

Unfortunately the ad, which used to be online, is no longer out there on the Internet. At least, I couldn't manage to find it after 5 minutes of heavy Googling. In it, Lance decides to take a small detour through some of the local trails in the middle of a typical dark & wet west-coast training ride, just to mix things up. Hilarity ensues as a pack of roadies decide to follow.

Anyhow, whether it's the "Best Hour Performance" or the "Hour Record" it's going to be fun to watch him take a run at the record(s).
