classic 80's cycling videos
John Tesh voiceover + synth music, cheezy American commentary, oh yeah.
Bauer vs. Criquielion vs. Fondriest, World Road Champs, 1988
At one point, Criquielion's bike hung in a bike shop near Oak Bay in Victoria, if I remember correctly.
Lemond vs. Fignon, Tour de France, 1989
Roche vs. Delgado, Tour de France, 1987
7-11 Team Profile, Tour de France, 1986
Bad to the bone. Indeed. Alex Stieda in yellow.
Some great stuff on Youtube.

Compiling this stuff is pure genius. I love young and goofy-looking Bob Roll.
BTW, in the Alex Steida video, he gives a shout-out to everyone in Vancouver. What was his connection to the city? I know some of his jerseys still hang in Jubilee Cycle, but Wikipedia says he was an Ontario boy, and his current cyclotour business is Calgary-based.

Stieda used to live in Coquitlam. He was a fixture of the local racing scene. The resident big fish in the small pond back in those days.
The company is based out of Edmonton, according to the website:

A couple years ago he came out and did a slideshow / talk about the "good old days" with 7-11 at one of Mark James' restaurants. It was a good evening.
